FORMAT
Most events are spread over 6 days however a certain flexibility exists to deal with specific circumstances. Six days allows a practice day followed by a Pro-Am, where corporate guests can mix with the elite players, then 4 days of competition.
PLAYERS
Up to 144 players (professional and amateur, men and women).
MEDIA
The media coverage has been widespread across the three forms of media prior to and during events. Newspaper coverage was extensive throughout the country and sports bulletins on radio stations (especially Radio Sport) were comprehensive. Murray Deaker and Brendon Telfer have been particularly supportive (broadcasting live from the events). The presence of GTNZ’s media liaison consultant (Ian Heppenstall) has facilitated much national coverage. TV1 and TV3 have played coverage on both the 6pm and late night news editions with Sky Sport 365 offering extended coverage (TV1 had a whopping 6½ minutes on its network news during one event). In recent events we have contracted Sports Inc (Philip Leishman) to produce a ½ hour show for Sky Sport. This initiative has been an outstanding success with great value being achieved for sponsors, clubs and the region alike (demo DVD’s can be supplied on request).
